South Shropshire offers a wealth of events with a local flavour throughout the year, with each town having something different.

Throughout the year in Ludlow on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday there is a market in Castle Square. As well as the produce market there are regular antique/flea markets and plant and garden fairs.

Ludlow Castle is the backdrop to an array of annual events including:

The Food and Drink Festival is a celebration of the things for which Ludlow has become renowned in the past 10 years or so. Local producers and suppliers take over the Castle grounds and butchers and bakers vie with their rivals to produce the Best of The Festival as judged by the public and a panel of experts.
The hugely popular Festival ‘trails’ enable visitors to tour the town sampling the produce – with a choice of trail: Sausage, Beer, Pork Pie, Cake or Cheese.

Within a 30 minute drive of Goosefoot Barn the choice of event becomes even more wide ranging.

  • In Bishops Castle there is a Folk Festival, a Real Ale Festival, Michaelmas Fayre and a Walking Festival.
  • Much Wenlock offers the Wenlock Olympian Games – an athletic tribute to William Penny Brookes, the pioneer of the Modern Olympic Games.

  • Clun has the Clun Valley Beer Festival and the unique Green Man Festival (1st - 3rd May), celebrating the arrival of Spring.

  • Church Stretton hosts the Church Stretton and South Shropshire Arts Festival.
