South Shropshire is an ideal location
for anyone wanting a few unhurried days walking, cycling, sightseeing
or simply relaxing and enjoying the spectacular scenery.
Goosefoot Barn Cottages are within easy reach of the
Long Mynd, Wenlock Edge, Clee Hill, Mortimer Forest and the Welsh
Border Hills. As well as Housman, Shropshire's other literary notables
include Brother Cadfael, Malcolm Saville and Mary Webb. The small
market towns of Ludlow, Church Stretton, Much Wenlock and Bishops
Castle have much to offer historically and architecturally.
Ludlow, in particular, has golf courses, National Hunt racing,
three Michelin starred restaurants and regular markets as well as
the renowned Ludlow Festival, the Ludlow Marches Food and Drink
festival and the Mediaeval Christmas Fayre.
Border Castles can be found in Stokesay, Clun, Powis and Ludlow,
which also has the splendid St Laurences Parish Church - one of
the finest in England. There are also several National Trust Properties
within easy visiting range.
Local attractions include the World Heritage Site Ironbridge Gorge
Museums, Secret Hills Discovery Centre, Severn Valley Railway and
Acton Scott Historic Working Farm as well as golf, horse racing,
gliding, trout fishing and pony trekking. |
